After a successful weekend of filmmaking workshops last month, we’re excited to be hosting the first ever 24hr Movie Making Marathon! Sometimes we need the impetus to bring our ideas to life, and this is a great opportunity for that! You can register as an individual or a team, and you’ll have 24 hours to make a film from start to finish. The Community Hall will be your hub to film, edit, score, and create your masterpiece with food provided, and facilitators available to help guide you through the process. Finished films will be entered into the Pender Island Short Film Festival happening April 20. Start working on your story ideas now!

Pender island short film festival

Film Fest Poster.jpg

Now in its fourth year, the Pender Island Short Film Festival showcases films made by youth and adults on Pender Island, and thanks to funding from the CRD, we are able to expand our reach to include the other Southern Gulf Islands and Vancouver Island. As a grassroots arts initiative, the PISFF gives a platform to our Gulf Island communities to tell their stories through film and video regardless of their age or experience.

If you are a filmmaker and would like to submit a film, please email penderfilmfest@gmail.com. All entries are welcome, the only guidelines are that it can't be an iMovie trailer, and it must be under 20 minutes. There are no submission fees.

The Pender Island Short Film Festival is happening on April 20, 2019 at the Pender Island Community Hall. There will be a red carpet soiree at 6:30pm with the film screenings happening at 7:30pm. Tickets are $15 for adults, kids 12 and under are free.
